The Emmy Noether Programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) offers excellent early career researchers the chance to qualify for a professorship at a university by leading an independent junior group for a period of six years.
Our project OrgXeMet aims at exploring the potential of organoxenon(II) compounds as versatile oxidizers in organometallic chemistry. Our strategy relies on the electrophilic transfer of fluorinated organic groups to metal centers, whereby only Xe gas is released, therefore entailing a high atom-economic process. A systematic investigation of various organoxenon(II) compounds will allow us to generate a toolbox of oxidizers with different characteristics. With these reagents in hand, the tailored design of unprecedented metal complexes relevant in current topics in organometallic chemistry will be tackled.
